Babcock completes high school career at Olympic Trials

Athletes who competed against her; coaches who tried to beat her; fans who adore her... all would say that a Christine Babcock only comes around once in a lifetime.

  

After a stellar career and tough team season, Christine has now concluded her high school running for the Woodbridge Warriors.  She ran her last meet in a Warriors uniform Friday night in the Women's 1500 Meter Semifinals at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Track Trials in Eugene, Oregon.

  

Christine finished ninth in her heat with a time of 4:20.00 after staying with the leaders for nearly three laps of the race.  Watch Christine's race

  

  

Babcock qualifies for 1500m Semifinals at Olympic Trials

Christine Babcock leading early in 1500m Prelims at Olympic TrialsAt the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Thursday night, Christine Babcock qualified in the prelims of the Women's 1500 Meters at Historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon (Eugene, OR).  She advances to the semifinals with a time of 4:18.32, the fastest of the six runners who didn't finish in the top six of their respective heat.

Babcock -- 4:16.42 in 1500m qualifying for Olympic Trials

Warrior senior Christine Babcock ran a 1500 meter qualifying race at the Southern California High Performance Meet at Mt. SAC Sunday evening to improve her chances of being invited to the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon later this month.

  

Christine's time of 4:16.42 places her currently as the 27th qualifying time for the Olympic Trials of a total of 30 places that will be invited.  Her performance, against literally no other competitive runners in the race to help push her to a faster time, also set a national high school record in the 1500 meters.  Watch Christine's race.

Babcock named OC Register Girls Athlete of the Year

Christine Babcock with other Athlete of the Year winners at Tuesday's award banquetSenior Christine Babcock was named the Orange County Register's Girls Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row.  The award was presented Tuesday evening at the annual Register and OCVarsity.com awards banquet.

  

"The event, held at the Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin, brought together the stars who shined the brightest in the county in 2007-08 by winning the top honor in their sport."
